About the shop/studio space
JBR Art Haus is the largest craft supply store in County Laois. Started 5 years ago by Jolanta Rutkowska, it has steadily expanded to the current location in Hynd's Square, off Main Street in the heart of Portlaoise.
Arty Party Place is the dedicated craft workshop and party space at the rear of the shop with space for groups of upto 16 people.
Meet the People
With a background in financial accounting, Jolanta is a Polish native who made her home in Ireland. She turned to crafting after a long period of illness and attributes crochet as being a life saver. This eventually led her to opening Yarn Haus which has since expanded into JBR Art Haus. She also supports local artists and makers with a handmade in Ireland retail section at the front of the shop.
Jolanta also has a passion for sewing and upcycling and is our main fabric craft and crochet tutor.
Sarah is the workshop manager behind Arty Party Place - running a variety of classes and events. A lifelong crafter and maker with past experience as a craft demonstrator, Sarah brings new and inventive ideas to share in her workshops.
They are supported by a small talented staff that help to keep JBR Art Haus running smoothly.
